I feel like plurality is something that aims at the same general goal, and can be a great way to become clear on certain concepts we hold as beliefs. Compartmentalizing things (into "headmates", "willful inconsistencies" as I think you call it, etc) seems to be at the very least the "next best" thing over the complete absence of beliefs. Developing additional identities within the same body/mind organism can help us become clearer on the nature of experiencing the world and thinking about it, that "identities" are really thought objects and such (edited)

Btw just because I keep vaguely mentioning it all the time, let me link some material on 5-MeO-DMT, which is described as the "ultimate non-dual experience/state" in which the only aspect of the life experience that doesn't dissolve completely for ten to fifteen earthly minutes is consciousness/"God". Researching this substance is how Shake first came across non-dual teachings (notice how the narrative is a story about the experience?)

I have experienced that state, or at least something close to it, from waking up without nearly enough sleep. It was as if my ego and sense of individuality was too tired to be present so there was only pure consciousness. I felt like I was physically and mentally apart of my surroundings and everything else.

So yeah that state is what's called the "non-dual" experience/state. When there is only consciousness "experiencing itself", suffering (and thoughts in general) are by default absent from the experience. Spiritual teachings say that suffering can be absent from the life experience even when the body and spacetime world "subject and objects" are present (edited)
